This courtyard transformation turned a neglected enclosed outdoor space within a characterful period building into a refined, intimate garden that sits in harmony with its historic surroundings. Large-format warm cream limestone porcelain was laid throughout, its natural tonal variation complementing the aged Cotswold stone walls beautifully. Bespoke sawn timber raised planters with integrated bench seating run symmetrically down both sides of the courtyard, freshly planted with herbs, grasses, and flowering perennials to bring life and softness to the space. Horizontal timber slatted screening panels add privacy and contemporary warmth against the raw stone backdrop, while a precisely crafted set of bullnose limestone steps — with mitred risers and profiled nosings — leads up to the French doors, integrating the existing ornate cast iron spiral staircase seamlessly into the new layout. A considered, high-specification finish that brings real character to a unique outdoor space.
